The renovation project at 48-50 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania was challenging for the architect and subcontractors due to existing concrete columns and steel cross bracing that support the roughly 77,000 square feet of poured concrete.

The architect for the project became enthused when he toured the fourth floor and began to envision the future headquarters for his Corporate Office. As the vision developed into reality, Dale Yoder, President of Cornerstone Design Architects and his partners strongly recommended Smucker Company for the fourth floor space due to its challenging design elements.

Smucker Company was able to take Cornerstone Design Architects vision and make it a reality. The superb craftsmanship and expertise of this subcontractor showed through each step of the way, and the result is a beautiful finished office space in a previously dusty attic! The results are simply phenomenal.

Dear Mr. Smucker:

I would like to express my satisfaction with the work done by your firm on our new building. Your efficient and quality workmanship in the cold formed metal framing, interiors metal stud framing, drywall and acoustical ceilings certainly enhanced the appearance and quality of the building.

We appreciate the dedication and professionalism of your onsite supervisors and office personnel. We also applaud the work of your field workers in completing this project during the hot summer heat. The project was completed on schedule and within the project budget.

We are very proud of our new building and continue to receive rave reviews on the structure and appearance. I highly recommend your company to others who are in need of construction services.

Sincerely,
Chris Bell, COO

Dear Mr. Smucker:

I would like to express our extreme satisfaction with the work performed by your company during the renovation and construction of our new campus center.

The creation of our campus center was an exciting and challenging opportunity for the College. Renovating two existing buildings as well as constructing new space to create an entirely new facility over a 15 month period required careful scheduling and sequencing of the work. Scheduling was made even more challenging as the College made necessary and desirable modifications to the project during construction in order to meet our completion deadline and stay within budget.

Their changes resulted in various adaptations to both the scope and scheduling of the work done by your company, which your crew handled with confidence. The men assigned to the project were highly skilled and diligent in their work as evidenced by the fine quality of our completed facility. In particular, we were exceptionally pleased with the way your project manager and your superintendent, managed the project and responded to the needs of the institution and the general contractor. Both gentlemen were remarkably receptive to our requests and achieved the deadlines they were given while remaining within the budget established.

We would be more than pleased to have the Smucker Company involved in other construction projects for the College and would just as happily provide positive references for you to other colleges or business who may be seeking your services.

Sincerely,
Lisa L. Koogle
Dean of College Life and chair, Campus Center Building Committee

Dear Merv,

I am very happy to hear that you are entering the above-reference project into the Associated Builder's and Contractor's competition for an award of excellence.

It was truly a pleasure to work with Smucker Company on this project from contract negotiation to close-out. I had requested continuous and responsible staffing on the project. The leadership from Smucker Company, provided by you, your project manager and superintendent was outstanding. This leadership was reflected in Smucker's responsiveness to changing project requirements and schedule management,

I was also very satisfied by Smucker's willingness to go the extra mile when the documents were a little "gray". This overall team effort on Smucker's part resulted in one of the most successful projects that I have been a part of and exceptional value on the part of our mutual customer, Elizabethtown College.

I wish you luck in the competition and look forward to working with your company again.

Sincerely,

Dear Merv,

I would like to compliment the Smucker Company for your efforts on the New Airport Terminal at the Harrisburg International Airport.

The open design of the terminal incorporated several architectural elements including an arching roof form at the center of the Terminal that features high sloping wall incorporating multiple ceiling finishes and drywall soffit details. Similarly, the high ceilings in the ticketing and baggage claim areas were designed with various drywall soffits to create a coffered appearance. The Smucker Company's staff, as well as the skilled craftsman, consistently made the extra effort to achieve the desired effect of the design, install a quality project, and assist us in completing the Project on time.

We sincerely appreciate your company's responsiveness and the way your organization tackled a difficult Project. Our firm has been fortunate to work with the Smucker Company on various other Projects in the past and I look forward to continuing our business relationship in the future.

Sincerely,
Michael A. Shuehart
